Lewis Capaldi Smashes The Anthem in DC

Washington, DC – The atmosphere on the wharf was absolutely buzzing this week, as fans queued up to see Scottish sensation Lewis Capaldi. After taking the world by storm with his breakout single “Bruises” in 2017, Capaldi has been mainly absent from Washington, outside from visiting DC’s 9:30 Club in October 2019. Fans were thrilled to finally have him back in town, stopping in DC for his mainly sold-out world tour.

Capaldi came out strong jumping right into a long opening trio, featuring “Forget Me,” “Forever,” and “Lost on You,” intermixed with a healthy portion of his usual sarcastic and witty banter. Capaldi is instantly relatable, pulling in audiences with his charm, charisma, and heavy doses of humor. Un-apologetically himself, he easily commands the room, cracking himself up right along with the fans with the never ending stream of jokes. With shows regularly lasting 2-3 hours, Lewis keeps the content funny and endearing, effortlessly keeping the audience engaged and happy.

The Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent features an extensive show list, and includes shows in UK/Europe, New Zealand, US, and Canada. The show pre-sale sold out in seconds in most locations, which led to this response from Capaldi’s stories (note dated 28 October 2022) on Instagram:

hello thought i’d also just say before these go on
sale that there won’t be any extra dates for any
cities. i really wish i could but i’m just one small
chubby human who has to try to get to see as
many of you all over the word as possible.

Following a three year break, Lewis began hyping up his fans starting by wiping his Instagram feed in August 2022, followed by teasing ‘2nd September’ on his TikTok. He ended up announcing his first new music since the break began, “Forget Me,” followed closely by a lyric video and a full music video. Lewis’s 2nd full album is slated to drop May 19, 2023, which will include the three already dropped singles “Forget Me,” “Pointless,” and “How I’m Feeling Now.”

Co-written by Ed Sheeran, “Pointless” is a sweet, uncharacteristically upbeat ballad with a sweet music video to accompany. “How I’m Feeling Now” returns to Capaldi’s typical style, focusing on mental health struggles. With pointed lyrics including: “No sense of self, but self obsessed/ I’m always stuck inside my f***ing head,” there’s no doubt this song will resonate closely with fans who can easily recognize themselves in the lyrics. Lewis Capaldi’s new album Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent will be released May 19, 2023.
