Celebrating with big hair and cans of hairspray, well not as much as what was used in the actual 80’s era, its the ninth annual 80's charity event also known as “80’s Party For a Purpose”. The event is to raise some money for some worthy charities. This year the charities are Great Lakes Burn Camp (for Kids- 6-17 years of age), Families of Service Men & Women (Blue Star Mothers Chapter #180) and Friends of Jacob (Supporting families of children with Autism).
Imagine if you will, a time and a place, where representatives from 17 different Asian communities gather for a day to share their traditions with all. Well, there is no need to imagine such a time or place. The time is every May, the place is the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, VA. This year, on Saturday, May 4th, the 22nd annual Asian American Celebration was held in downtown Richmond.

Glen Allen, VA – April showers were not enough to keep bluegrass fans away from the 10th annual Richmond Bluegrass Jam held at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen. All proceeds from the event go to support the Fisher House, a facility the provides lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at the McGuire VA hospital. In the previous 9 years, this event has raised over $165,000 for the Fisher House.
