Amsterdam, The Netherlands – On this sunny Easter Monday, the London-based Jake Isaac and his band paid a visit to Amsterdam and played a sold-out show at Paradiso Noord. Jake Isaac is known for his distinctive style of fresh, soulful singer-songwriter pop songs accompanied by his powerful voice. With his new album Honesty, released in early 2021, and his successful debut album Our Lives from 2017, a beautiful evening awaited us.

The support act of the evening was Shan Ako, a singer also from London. Her just-released EP God’s Best was produced by Jake Isaac. Even though she is perhaps still unknown in the Netherlands, it took her no time to win over the audience with her beautiful voice. Her songs are inspiring and full of positivity. She effortlessly kept the audience’s attention. There was a lot of interaction, both during the songs, where she asked the help of the crowd to sing along and while chatting between songs. The audience seemed to welcome her with open arms.

After the show had been postponed three times in the last two years due to covid you could feel that everyone, the crowd and the band as well, has been longing for this night so much. Each song was received with loud cheers! Most of the songs that were played came from the latest album, as well as the EP Things I’ll Tell You Tomorrow, released in 2020. Every song ended with a big smile and plenty of jokes from Jake and that was the atmosphere of the evening. The most important thing this evening was to have fun and enjoy the music!

The energetic “Long Road” was the only song from the first album.” Every band has one of those songs they just have to play every gig” according to Jake. Although was one of the highlights of the show for me. For “Gold”, Shan Ako was welcomed back on stage for a duet, which is sung on the album by India.Arie. Although the night was so full of joy, there was also time for more serious and emotional moments. The song “Carry You” was written for a friend of Jake who was mentally struggling. The special thing about Jake Isaac’s voice is that with his warm voice, it can be as strong as it is fragile, and that way it can color each song with its own feeling. The last song “You And I Always” was performed solo by Jake and was dedicated to a couple that flew from the United States to see the performance.
We all had to wait quite a while for this concert but Jake and his band have made it worth the wait!
