Indianapolis, IN. – The crowd was lined up around the parking lot when the doors opened at Old National Centre Saturday night. It was the annual Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Holiday Party featuring Sublime with Rome with the cold weather and light snow falling outside, it did not deter the crowd from coming out to have a good time.
Opening the show was up-and-coming, Indiana’s own, Shiny Penny. This hot new trio based out of Kokomo Indiana features alternative rock with a mix of funk, blues and a dash of pop blended in. The band is made up of band members Dean Schimmelpfennig (vocals, keys, guitar, and bass), Brad Dicarlo (guitar) and Scott “Stix” Ayers (drums). They did a great job at working the crowd and getting the energy going in the room as this party started to heat up.
Next up on the bill was the high energy Funk band, Tropidelic. This six piece band, out of Cleveland Ohio, hit the stage with an abundance. Featuring frontman Matthew Roads on vocals and acoustic guitar, Tropidelic brings a good mix of reggae, hip-hop, and funk to the party. Other members of the band include: James Begin (Trombone, Vox, Vocals), Bobby Chronic (guitar), Pags (bass), Derek McBride (Trumpet) and Darrick Willis (drums). The energy this band has on stage is incredible; from leg kicks to side smiles, hair flips to a drum corp line – this band is having the best of times and never stops!
After a big thank you and brief introduction by the party’s host and hostess, Sublime with Rome hit the stage to a full room. The crowd danced and sang along as the band made their way through all the fan favorites with hits like “Wrong Way”, “Doin Time”, “What I Got” and “Santeria” along with playing their new single “Wicked Heart”. By the end of the night it had been a hell of a party as the hot, sweaty crowd made their way back out into the cold evening. Pictures from the evening’s performances below.
