Black Mountain, NC – Dominating guitar solos for decades, world-renowned guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen brought his blaze of fury to the mass gathered outdoors on Thursday evening at Silverados. With a massive wall of Marshall stacks donning the stage, the crowd was met by the master himself, as Malmsteem made his greeting and went on to ensure he would be heard LOUD and clear.
Hailing from Sweden, Malmsteen’s self-taught journey is described as having started on September 18th, 1970, when he saw a TV special on the late Jimi Hendrix. Although introduced to the guitar world through Hendrix, his influence was from classical composers and he has since been credited for originating the neo-classical genre in the world of rock. With over a 40-year career, more than 20 studio albums, and countless live performances, Malmsteen has cemented his stronghold. His most recent album, Parabellum, was released in July 2021.
Tonight, the crowd would be treated to songs from the new album including “Relentless Fury” and “Wolves at the Door”, solidifying the fast, extreme, and powerful expression Malmsteen delivers through not only his guitar skills, but also by showcasing his ability to command lead vocals. Captained by Malmsteen and supported by a solid crew, the evening kicked off with the intro to “Rising Force” and contained a setlist filled with all the goods, plenty of smoke, and many flying guitar pics. Up through the closing “Black Star”, each moment was performed with full force and gusto.
