Indianapolis, IN. – For over a decade now local radio station WTTS, along with local restaurant favorite Jockamo Upper Crust Pizza, has hosted the Rock to Read Concert Series to raise money and awareness for children’s literacy programs for the Indianapolis Public Library. For the 3rd show of the series, WTTS DJ Matt Pelsner introduced one of rocks most iconic and enduring collaborations, Billy Idol and Steve Stevens in a rare, acoustic performance.

Two stools and a couple of mic stands were all that appeared on stage for tonight’s event. No drum riser. No fancy lights or video screens. No banners or back drops. The only thing needed for tonight’s performance were the two eighties icons themselves, Billy Idol and Steve Stevens; and as the two men walked out on stage, the crowd rose to their feet and gave them a standing ovation. The guitar tech handed Steve his Godin Acoustic-Electric guitar as Billy greeted the Indianapolis crowd. After a brief fanfare, the duo broke into “Dancing With Myself” which kicked off an almost two hour set of eighties hits, Gen X classics, along with showcasing a couple singles from Idol’s latest EP, Roadside.

Titled “Turned On, Tuned In and Unplugged”, this was the first duo show featuring Idol and Stevens (only) since 2019. And what a treat it was!! This tour is a special feature and only has 5 dates, first being Indianapolis. The other four dates include: The Ryman Auditorium – Nashville, TN., Vic Theatre – Chicago, IL., The Barrymore Theatre – Madison, WI., and Palace Theatre-First Avenue – St. Paul, MN.
