Noblesville, IN.Smashing Pumpkins made their final stop on “The World Is A Vampire” tour Saturday night at Ruoff Music Center and brought support acts Interpol and Rival Sons along to join the party.

Kicking the night off was California rockers Rival Sons. Unfortunately for me, due to construction and congestion on Interstate 465, I missed their set. But, from what I could hear as I made my way to the venue, they had a Blues-Rock sound and were jamming. Hopefully I’ll have another opportunity in the future to check these guys out! In the meantime, give a listen to their 2023 album Darkfighter and be sure to check out their upcoming album Lightbringer due to be released October 20th. Both albums are via Low Country Sound.

Next up was NYC rockers Interpol featuring members Paul Banks (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Daniel Kessler (lead guitar, piano, keys, backing vocals), Brandon Curtis (keyboard, backing vocals), Brad Truax (bass, backing vocals), and Chris Broome (drums, percussion). Interpol gave a solid hour set showcasing songs from seven studio albums including fan favorites “Narc“, “Obstacle 1“, and “Toni“. The band has a short break before heading back on the road in October with select dates in California before heading overseas. Make sure to check their website for a show near you as tickets are very limited due to most of the dates are already sold out!

It was now time for the main event. Original members Billy Corgan (lead vocals, guitar, keys), James Iha (guitar, backing vocals), and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums) along with long time members Jeff Schroeder (guitar, keys), Jack Bates (bass), and Katie Coal (backing vocals, acoustic guitar) made their way to the stage to the roar of the crowd. This was the final night of the tour and the band seemed to be in good spirits; giving the crowd a two hour set filled with some of the bands biggest hits including “Disarm“, “Tonight Tonight“, “Bullets With Butterfly Wings” and “Zero” while still showcasing a couple songs off the new album, ATUM: A Rock Opera in Three Acts (Out now via Thirsty Tiger).

There currently are no dates for future shows but the band will be venturing to Chicago to Billy’s plant-based teashop – Madame Zulu’s Teashop – to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album Siamese Dream. No worries if you weren’t able to grab a ticket as it will be live-streamed for FREE on VEEPS! Make sure to tune in Sunday the 17th at 9pm CST! I’m hoping there is a tour to follow as pretty much anyone who is a fan of the Pumpkins LOVES the Siamese Dream album. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed!!
