Miami, Fl – The MIA Beer Co. and the Magic City Casino hosts the Mega Mix Beer and Music Festival for a second time on November 9, 2019. The festival brings together a large collection of craft beer brewers sampling over 60 beers. The festival takes fans back to the old school with a line up of Freestyle and Hip Hop artists that included Vanilla Ice, Expose, Rob Base and Safire. The crowd was entertained pre-show and in between artists by South Florida’s own DJ Santana.

This event is a beer connoisseurs dream.  The cost of admission includes the concert and unlimited samples of beer.  The crowd is ready for the show by the time Safire takes the stage to kick off the concert. Safire wastes no time in getting the crowd on their feet while belting out her hits “Don’t Break My Heart”, “Let Me Be The One” and “Boy I’ve Been Told”.  The rain did not keep fans away from the stage. Safire wraps up her set and fans head out to the beer tents for their refills.

DJ Santana introduces the first of the evening’s Hip Hop artists, Rob Base. Rob, his hype man and his DJ waste no time in taking the fans back 20-30 years in musical history covering some hip hop classics.  Rob continues his set with “Joy and Pain” and closes it out with the mega crossover hit, “It Takes Two”, but not without first acknowledging his late partner on that record, DJ EZ Rock.

As the night progresses, fans are loose, relaxed and in an otherwise altered state. Miami’s own Expose takes the stage. Their intro video is a montage of clips going back to the early 80’s.  Jeannette Jurado, Gioia Bruno and Ann Curless begin their set with “Let Me Be the One”. They then tear through almost every hit ever recorded by Expose including “Exposed to Love”, “Come Go With Me”, “What You Don’t Know” and “Don’t Go” (Yazoo cover). Jeannette then slows it down with the power ballads “I’ll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me” and “Seasons Change” before closing out their set with their first hit, “Point of No Return”.

There was not doubt that the fans had come to see the evening’s headliner, Vanilla Ice. The set starts with his DJ in the dark with an illuminated led jacket. Vanilla Ice takes the stage and the crowd is in a frenzy. This performer is not the Rob Van Winkle of house flipping fame. He has taken on his alter ego and is bringing old school hip hop back to his home town. Vanilla Ice has the crowd chanting along to “Go Ninja, go Ninja go”, before ripping into his colossal hit, “Ice Ice Baby”. By this time, the show has become a party and Vanilla Ice has invited anyone and everyone to join the party on stage. His entourage is dousing the partiers on stage and fans in the crowd with water bottles, as if the rain was not enough. His set ends with a salute to those who have served their country in the military, law enforcement, EMS and fire, among others, with a cover of Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry”.

By all accounts, the second Mega Mix Beer and Music Festival at the Magic City Casino is a huge success. The formula works well and should have fans looking forward to the next Mega Mix Beer and Music Festival with great anticipation.
