Richmond, VA – So what would a con be without a pictures of people being someone else, coming together with others who are not themselves, getting inked to show the world who they are, playing games and having fun!!
I have photographed GalaxyCon since it first came to Richmond and have always been fascinated by the intricacy and detail some of the cosplayers put into their artistic quests to paint a picture of what they love. These cosplays were all about passion, art, and creating something to get noticed… or to live out a fantasy.

While sitting in a panel, we learned of the different types of cosplay contests. I recall the Craftsmanship and the Masquerade contests the most, where the former is all about the originality and the precision of the cosplay while the latter is all about the acting behind the cosplay. Check out the images below from the Masquerade competition. Personally, I loved the Wicked (with Dad as Elphaba) the best and I heard they did win something.

The final gallery is the catch almost all of fun things to do. If one wanted to make their image a little more permanent, they could go to the second floor and get a tattoo of their choice. For those who just wanted to compete, there were gaming rooms, some video, some board games. They had game shows such as GalaxyCon Family Feud (which was a blast) and even some fast friending events. There was something for the extravert, introvert, competitor, and the body art in all of us.
