Indianapolis, IN. – It was a hot Thursday evening. There was no other way around it. The sun beating down felt like that stage in Super Mario Bros. 3 where the sun is angry. Half the country had been experiencing record breaking heat all week but that didn’t keep fans from coming out to Holliday Park on the northeast side of Indianapolis for another great night of music.

Tonight’s line-up featured The Wood Brothers & Guster with opener David Wax Museum.

Kicking off the evening was David Wax Museum featuring David Wax and Suz Slezak. Combining traditional Mexican son music and Americana (Mexo-Americana), this husband-wife duo based out of Charlottesville, VA are out in support of their new album, Remember My Future – currently streaming on your favorite music platform. This 11 track album (1 of 2 produced during the pandemic) highlights messages of “The World Needs All of Our Love” and “Hope is Better Than Despair” attitude throughout the album.

Make sure to give it a listen!

Guster was the second band on the bill and their fans showed up in numbers! A quick glance through the park saw just as many Guster T’s being proudly worn as there were Wood Brother t-shirts. Featuring members Adam Gardner (vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, banjo, trumpet), Ryan Miller (vocals, guitar, bass, piano, banjo, harmonica, ukulele, keytar), Brian Rosenworcel (drums, percussion, trombone), and Luke Reynolds (backing vocals, guitar, bass, banjo, electric keyboard); the band has been around since 1991 with eight studio albums to pick and choose from – tonight’s performance gave a well-rounded mix of songs off most of their albums.

Guster will be out touring through August. It’s a fun-filled show appropriate for all ages and definitely going to bring you joy after a long summer day! Make sure to check here for dates near you.

It was time for the main event and as the sun was finally starting to set on the horizon. You could almost hear a collective sigh of relief from the crowd and thankfully, there was still a nice breeze to assist with the relief.  As The Wood Brothers made their way on to the stage, members Oliver Wood (vocals, guitar), Chris Wood (vocals, bass, harmonica), and Jano Rix (vocals, drums, percussion, keyboards) were all smiles to the welcoming crowd. Currently out touring behind their most recent release, 2020’s Kingdom In My Mind (via Honey Jar/Thirty Tiger), the guys wasted no time jumping into their set highlighting tunes from the new album while still getting in those fan favorites we all know and love.

The Wood Brothers will be hitting the festival scene during the month of July before teaming up with Greensky Bluegrass for August dates. Those shows with Greensky will be FIRE so make sure to check for dates and not miss out!!
