Amsterdam, The Netherlands – It’s been almost exactly a year since Nathan Ball last performed at Bitterzoet, Amsterdam. A year in which he’s been busy not only releasing singles from his upcoming EP Lost Track of Time, but also touring the world with Faithless. Tonight, he wraps up his solo tour once again here at Bitterzoet.

Nathan began his set with “Whispers” from his debut album Under The Mackerel Sky, followed by the heartfelt “Just Say Something”. From the very first moment, the audience was completely captivated. For some songs, he offered a glimpse or anecdote into how they came to be, like the emotional “Not Alone”, which he wrote when his grandmother was ill.

Early on, Nathan played what is probably his most well-known track, “Drifting”, which continues to resonate with people as I could see from the reactions around me. “Stateline”, the first single from the new EP, has clearly already made an impact this summer, as the crowd eagerly joined in for the chorus. Another song that seems to have become a classic is “Under The Mackerel Sky”, during which Nathan asked the audience to sing along to the mantra-like refrain “I’m Not Lost”. This created a sense of unity in the room.
The atmosphere throughout the concert was relaxed and enjoyable, with everyone seeming to have a good time. Casually, Nathan also mentioned that he’s already started writing for his second album—something else to look forward to in the future, besides the EP! Toward the end of the set, the mood shifted slightly darker with more electronic songs like “Friend/Lover” and “Safety in Numbers” before Nathan left the stage.

After a short break, he returned to perform his latest single, “Cover to Cover”, which has become my personal favorite among the released singles so far and will also be featured on the new Lost Track of Time EP.For the final song, Nathan gave the audience the chance to choose what they wanted to hear. Voices called out from every direction, and the crowd was treated not only to “The Forest” but also to “Can’t Work You Out”. It was a special moment that perfectly captured the spirit of the evening—a beautiful mix of connection and intimacy, leaving everyone in the room buzzing with energy and anticipation for what Nathan Ball has in store next.
