Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Earlier this year, the American indie rock band Lo Moon released their latest album, I Wish You Way More Than Luck. This album is an intimate and heartfelt journey, delving into themes like letting go of the past, the process of growing up, and the complexities of love. The songs capture a range of moods and emotions, from the dreamy and reflective opening track “Borrowed Hills” to the more optimistic and up-tempo numbers like “Water” and “Waiting a Lifetime”. Lo Moon opened the evening with “Borrowed Hills,” the first track from I Wish You Way More Than Luck, and then continued with the uplifting “Waiting A Lifetime” also from their new album. Both songs immediately struck a chord with the audience. Lo Moon performed at Bitterzoet a year ago, but tonight, it was clear they’ve gained in popularity—the venue was noticeably more packed than last year. Alongside tracks from the new album, they played captivating songs from previous records, like the atmospheric “This Is It” and “Expectations.” “Connecticut” has a powerful build-up on the album, and live, it was just as impactful, drawing the crowd into every note. With the cheerful and hopeful “Water”, the band got everyone dancing, and their joy on stage was infectious. This time, they also played the mesmerizing “Carried Away,” a personal favorite that they, unfortunately, hadn’t included last year. After a special request from the audience, they treated us to an extra track, “Camouflage,” from their debut album, Lo Moon. They closed the set with the epic “Loveless,” one of their finest works.
For the encore, they played “Evidence,” bringing the night to a thrilling end. Lo Moon is clearly on the rise, and it’s only a matter of time before they’re filling larger venues here in the Netherlands.
