Columbia, SC – The weekend was right around the corner as Jason Aldean’s We Back Tour tore into town. The maximum overdrive of that Thursday evening could be felt even before you stepped into the venue, from the frenzied traffic circling for open parking spots to multitude of fans outside gathering toward the arena entrance while donning trucker hats, flannel shirts, and cowboy boots. The party was just getting started and the crowd was ready to have a good time.
The early kick off to the evening was singer, Riley Green, out supporting his September 2019 album, Different ‘Round Here. Riley was sure to include his hit, “I Wish Grandpas Never Died“, which had caused some waves for what some fans consider one of the best lines in modern country music. Riley was joined tonight by the vast audience singing along to every word. DJ/remixer/producer Dee Jay Silver also provided some entertainment between sets and as the crowd continued to pour through the doors and find their seats.
The scent of strong mixes and cold brews swirled in the air, as Morgan Wallen hit the stage to welcoming hoots and hollars. Dressed in a black sleeveless shirt and smiling at the audience, Wallen became the life of the party. He cracked open a can of “Whatcha Know ‘Bout That” and brought with him a shot of “Heartless,” pint of “Up Down,” flight of “Chasin’ You,” and didn’t forget the “Whiskey Glasses.” Fans knocked them back as they sang and swayed along.
The room went dark before WE BACK TOUR 2020 lit up the entire stage and like gasoline on a fire, Jason Aldean and the boys blew it up. Drinks and arms were raised up in the air and screams reverberated around the arena, as fans welcomed Aldean to take over the party.
Aldean is out supporting “9”, his ninth studio album which was released November 2019 via Broken Bow Records. Kicking off the set with “Take A Little Ride,” Jason and the boys were ready to give fans a great time, covering a range hits including “Tattoos on This Town,” “We Back,” “A Little More Summertime,” “Burnin’ It Down,” “Big Green Tractor,” “Any Ol’ Barstool” and Colt Ford’s “Dirt Road Anthem.”
The crowd also got a little surprise when Aldean got a little help from Columbia legend and the lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist of Hootie & the Blowfish Darius Rucker, who showed up on stage to sing “Wagon Wheel” and “Let Her Cry” together with Aldean. Instead of a typical encore process, Aldean stayed on stage to finish the show. This party would be over for now, but that wouldn’t stop fans from getting back in the saddle again soon!
