Gojira Powers Through with Fortitude

Asheville, NC – Roaring into Asheville, Gojira played to a sold out audience at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium on Saturday, October 23rd. Gojira is currently on the “Fortitude” tour in support of their seventh studio album of the same name, Fortitude. On this tour they have with them for support Knocked Loose and Alien Weaponry. If the first two bands were any indication of the night to come with Gojira, then they were the perfect compliment.

At 9:00pm, with a Kabuki Curtain and a numerical countdown projected on it, the curtain fell and all Hell Broke Loose. Opening with “Born for One Thing”, Gojira could see their passionate fans before them, and they didn’t disappoint. They played an uncompromising show with air canons, stage smoke and a killer light show. The band held the crowd in the palm of their hands for a solid hour and a half with one encore.

As per “THE RULE” – first three no flash – but in this instance it was 2nd, 3rd and 4th songs, after which I exited the photo pit and all I could see were fists pumping, heads bobbing and the smiling faces of the diverse crowd on hand. The fans of Gojira got what they came for, a true metal show.

If you’re looking for a metal band that has prided its self on advocacy and activism with thought provoking and current lyrical themes, then this is the band for you. Truly an amazing show for the senses.

Gojira is currently on tour in the United States through November 10th, where they will wrap up at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, SC.

Born And Raised in South Carolina, Kevin Harrington found his love for Photography and Video at an early age. I love getting up close and personal with my photos. When shooting shows, I want to show what the average concert goer doesn't or can’t pick up on - sweat, emotion, fun, and the hard work the artist and the lighting crews put into a show. I absolutely love where I live, it gives me the opportunity to shoot many shows in, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Greenville, Asheville, Columbia, Charleston, Birmingham, New Orleans. I am a freelance photographer, I have a Degree in Radio and TV Broadcasting and I cut my teeth working for CBS in Georgia, I am a Commercial, Concert, Sports, Portrait and Fine Art photographer. I have worked for ESPN, Harrah’s Cherokee Center, The Orange Peel, Charleston Music Hall, Born Primitive, Goat Tape, 10 Performance, TruFrom. In my spare time, I play guitar and sometimes play a local bar here and there. Basically, I believe in the idea that we as photographers have been given the opportunity to save moments in time, I know that’s cli·ché, but you can’t tell me it’s not true. I genuinely still get nervous at every show but I love that feeling, its an HONOR.
