Miami, Fl – The Magic City Casino in Miami, Fl brings yet another great show to South Florida with George Thorogood and the Destroyers with support from WAR. The evening of March 7th was a lot cooler and windier than your typical Saturday night in Miami, but George Thorogood and the Destroyers and WAR had no trouble bringing the heat. Not even the concern of a “global pandemic” kept the diehard fans from coming out to enjoy a fantastic evening of funk, rock and blues.
WAR kicks of the evening at 7pm, playing a one-hour set that has everyone, and I mean everyone, on their feet from the time the first note is played. The band, led by Lonnie Jordan (Lead Vocals, Keyboard) and also featuring Stuart Ziff (Guitar), Marcus J. Reyes (Congas. Timbales), Scott Martin (Saxophone), Stanley Behrens (Harmonica), Rene Camacho (Bass) and Sal Rodrigues (Drums), went on to play a rock-solid set of rock and funk. The band formed in 1969, 51 years ago and is still going strong. They bring the Afro Cuban Jazz, Rock and Blues the way only they can. WAR tore through an impressive set list in which just about every song is a hit. There were crowd favorites like “The Cisco Kid”, ” Why Can’t We Be Friends” and their closer, “Low Rider”.
George Thorogood and the Destroyers take the stage at 8:30pm and the jam session starts with “Rock Party“. George and the band sound as good as ever. They rip into “Who Do You Love” immediately after. The set is high octane from beginning to end. It is a rock solid Blues jam session as George and company play for a very appreciative crowd.
The band has been cranking out hits for 45 years now, since 1975. They are currently on the Good To Be Bad Tour: 45 Years Of Rock, which they kicked off in 2019. As with other shows on this tour, part of the proceeds from the Miami show will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. George Thorogood and the Destroyers are George Thorogood (Lead Vocals, Guitar), Bill Blough (Bass), Jim Suhler (Guitar), Buddy Leach (Saxophone) and Steve Simon (Drums).
The Magic City Casino is bringing the 2020 outdoor concert series to a close but not before bringing one more great rock-n-roll show to South Florida. Rick Springfield will be joined by Grand Funk Railroad on April 18, 2020. This is a show you will not want to miss.
