Virginia Beach, Virginia – High-powered rockers Fozzy, Seventh Day Slumber, and The Nocturnal Affair closed out Fozzy’s Save the World Tour 2023 to a packed house at Elevation 27 in Virginia Beach, Virginia on April 17th. Even though it was a Monday, the bands ushered in the week with a power packed “Fozzy Friday” vibe, of course.
The Nocturnal Affair, an alternative/dark rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, introduced a metal mood with their ten-song set. Lead singer and band founder Brendan Shane announced that he would need help from the crowd because he was losing his voice, but he sounded great and jumped into the pit with us to interact with the fans. Band members Dru Lappin (guitar), Andy Ingraham (guitar), Michael James (bass) and Brian Scott (drums) showcased plenty of head-banging energy on stage.

Veteran rockers Seventh Day Slumber took the stage and was the band I was most excited to see. Frontman Joseph Rojas, Weston Evans (guitar), Ken Reed (bass), and Blaise Rojas (drums) brought a relatable rock/metal vibe and incredible energy in support of their 2022 album Death by Admiration, which just won a Grizzly Award for Rock Album of the Year. Seventh Day Slumber’s lyrics relate to some of the toughest times a human can face, and ultimately points to hope in Christ. At the concert, Joseph shared how his drug addiction early in life led to a suicide attempt, then shared briefly how faith saved his life and enabled him to have a stable family of his own. (Read his testimony HERE.)
As a special treat, guest artist Magdalene Rose hit the stage and performed her new single “Shark Spray.” She is one of the talented artists signed to Rojas’ own label, Rockfest Records.
Seventh Day Slumber then finished their set with “Surviving the Wasteland” and “What I’ve Become.” The band’s set was a journey through the human experience, and it left the crowd feeling inspired and moved.

Undeniably the star of the evening, Fozzy, (aka AEW professional wrestler Chris Jericho), opened with his hit song, “Sane” from new album Boombox. The innovative music video for this song was filmed on a rollercoaster, and Chris naturally took fans for a wild ride in Virginia Beach with his charismatic stage presence and rockstar performance. (See the video for “Sane” below.) The action-packed setlist featured other songs from Boombox including “Nowhere to Run,” “Relax,” “I Still Burn,” and “Purifier.”
Decked out in a striking green leather jacket with spikes on the shoulders, black leather pants, and red Nikes, Fozzy rocked every inch of the stage like a master showman with friends, couples and families singing along to every word. Some highlights of the night included dousing the crowd with a smoke gun during “Do You Wanna Start a War,” endless guitar riffs by Rich Ward and Billy Grey with a guitar battle during “Enemy,” and certified Gold mega hit, “Judas.” Fozzy is definitely passionate about his craft, delivering an incredible concert experience leaving fans encouraged and energized.
