Chicago, IL – Returning to Chicago’s House of Blues in support of their new release The Way, Dorothy brought along some new friends with Eddie and the Getaway, who took to the stage with the hunger of a band on the rise. Delivering a set that balanced attitude, melody, and sheer force, opening with “Alexis in Texas”, they immediately had the audience hooked with their Southern tinged rock edge. Their set showcased standouts like “SuperNOVOCAINE”, pulsing with raw hooks and grit, and a fast fan favorite titled “Middle Finger Motto”, delivering a tailor made anthem for live singalongs that had fists and middle fingers in the air, perfectly capturing the band’s defiant side.
A surprising mid-set highlight came when the band launched into a sprawling medley, seamlessly stitching together “Iris” (Goo Goo Dolls), “Down” (311), “Break Stuff” (Limp Bizkit), and “Crazy Bitch” (Buckcherry), flexing their versatility and keeping the crowd roaring and singing along. Eddie and the Getaway prove they’re not just up and coming. With their new EP Tumbleweeds & Nicotine, they’re already here. You’re going to want to keep your eyes on this band – they’re going places.

From the opening chords of “Down to the Bottom”, Dorothy set the tone for the rest of the evening as the bands raw, blues infused energy and emotion had the crowd in a packed House of Blues responding immediately to Dorothy Martin’s commanding raspy vocals, cutting through the venue’s thick atmosphere. Touring in support of her latest release, The Way, The band spent the evening showcasing their versatility with a mix of old favorites and new tracks.
“Ain’t Our Time” channeled themes of perseverance, while a slowed down haunting rendition of “Medicine Man” gave a familiar favorite a new cinematic weight, that had the crowd swaying in unison – until the solo hit. Then guitarist Sam Bam Koltun picked up the pace with the crowd roaring in approval. Another highlight came with “Gun in My Hand,” a fan favorite delivered with both swagger and vulnerability.
Material from The Way stood out through the evening. “Devil I Know” dripped with grit, with Koltun’s guitar lines slicing alongside Dorothy’s raspy delivery, while “Bones” revealed the album’s balance of heavy riffs and soulful storytelling. These songs, performed live, highlighted the band’s chemistry with Elliot Lorango’s bass grounding the sound and Jake Hayden’s drumming driving it forward with thunderous precision.
The evening reached its climax with the encore,“Tombstone Town”, a defiant closer that’s dark, fiery, and perfectly suited to the House of Blues’ storied stage. By the time the final notes rang out, the audience had been taken on a journey that was equal parts raw blues, spiritual catharsis, and hard rock revival. The unforgetable evening was a masterclass in modern rock, with the combination of a powerful stage presence, tight musicianship, and a well curated setlist.
