SACRAMENTO, CA – Diamante recently made a dazzling appearance at Sacramento’s Starlet Room, an aptly-named location for a performer whose music and showmanship captivated an enthusiastic audience in the heart of California’s capitol city. Crowned with a headful of new blonde tresses, a recent change from her trademark shade of brilliant blue, Diamante presented a glittering set of tunes that spanned her catalog of two albums and several singles, including her newest album release, American Dream.
The setlist broke the door open with the intense and unapologetic “UnFuCk YoU”, and continued into a perfect combination of heavy rock tunes and darkly emotional ballads with sparkles of pop and dance influences. Those unexpected genre touches gave an addicting depth and dimension to her music that was particularly appealing. Particular tracks of note that came up in the setlist include “I Love Myself for Hating You” (I love the twist on a classic song title here), the moody “Serves You Right”, and a lovely cover of Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris”, a tune that has a particular sentimental place in my heart.
Diamante also took a moment to let the audience know that she appreciated her ability to be in front of us that evening. She informed the crowd that as her newest album, American Dream was being put together, she held uncertainty as to whether she would be able to tour with the material and share it with the audience in a live setting. She let everyone know how grateful she was to be able to perform live at last, and the crowd’s response made it very clear that they were also grateful to be with her.
Diamante’s last two headlining dates in Southern California were rescheduled due to COVID concerns, but they have been rescheduled to late March, and will be the sendoff gigs to her next big run as part of Shinedown’s The Revolution’s Live Tour with The Pretty Reckless, starting April 1.
