“Wayne” is an adrenaline-filled, raw and dirty single by the New York-based rocker, singer and songwriter Des Rocs that wouldn’t sound out of place in a Quentin Tarantino movie. The fast-paced song has both a modern and retro feel/vibe powered by his frantic guitar work with dissonant and melodic riffs galore in the classic tradition of rock and roll that also has a jarring and disorienting effect in the genre of psychobilly. Des Rocs’ vocals sound very low fi and compressed complimenting the distinctively wired single with an accompanying unique, off-kilter, abstract and very gritty video.
Des Rocs is known as a dynamic live performer and draws musical and creative inspiration from Elvis, Roy Orbison, Talking Heads, Bruce Springsteen, Queen and Jimi Hendrix. History plays a big part in his athematic music and some of his favorite biographies including John Adams, FDR and Jack Kerouac. Themes of life and death are present and echo throughout his original material. Being close to the edge is important for Rocs, as he believes that’s where the best art lies.
