Simpsonville, SC – The CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park filled with anticipating fans on Saturday evening awaiting The Unheavenly Skye Tour, a 2019 outing where Coheed and Cambria have joined forces with Mastodon, along with support from Every Time I Die.

High energy and electrifying intensity hit immediately as Keith Buckley (vocals), Jordan Buckley (lead guitar), Andy Williams (rhythm guitar), Steve Micciche (bass), and Clayton Holyoak (drums) of Every Time I Die wasted no time in creating a proper frenzy. The band’s most recent album, Low Teens, may have been released back in 2016, however with eight albums under their belt, ETID gave a rock solid opening to the evening with songs such as “Glitches,” “Decayin’ With the Boys,” “The Coin Has a Say,” and “Map Change.” Fast, raw, and catchy as fire, ETID has certainly carved out a space for themselves.

The mighty Mastodon stormed over the stage next and brought all things aether with them as they celebrated the 10th anniversary of album, Crack the Skye. Performing the 2009 album in full (plus more), Troy Sanders (bass/vocals), Brent Hinds (guitar/vocals), Bill Kelliher (guitar), and Brann Dailor (drums/vocals) proceeded to take the audience on a different world journey. With the organic flow from one riff and beat to the next accompanied by the large stage screens projecting concepts of astral travel and wormholes, Mastodon gave the crowd the opportunity to lose themselves in the moment.

With the sun now set and night settling in, a large white curtain covered the stage in preparation of Coheed and Cambria‘s arrival. The pulse of the audience could be felt as the prologue began and anticipation built for when the curtain would fall, unleashing the final act of the night. Out in support of their new album, The Unheavenly Creatures, Claudio Sanchez (vocals/guitar), Travis Stever (guitar), Josh Eppard (drums), and Zach Cooper (bass) delivered a peak performance that would showcase new material and dig into fan favorites. The band covered a range of songs including, “The Dark Sentencer,” “Delirium Trigger,” “Unheavenly Creatures,” “A Favor House Atlantic,” “The Suffering,” “Gravemakers & Gunslingers,” and the smash hit, “Welcome Home.”
