Virginia Beach, VA -The Godfather of Shock Rock brought an eclectic lineup to entertain Virginia Beach, which included sludge metal masters Corrosion of Conformity and the kings of heavy metal Judas Priest.

I had to dig into my archive to find out the last time I saw Corrosion of Conformity live and it turns out it was August of 2013 when they played GWAR-B-Q. Since that time they have had a few lineup changes and put out two albums, IX and No Cross No Crown. Fans of the old school CoC got the set they wanted, all older material. They looked and sounded really good and it looked like the audience liked what they heard.

It has been ten years since I last saw Judas Priest live. Walking through the crowd, you could see who came to see them. One of the things I noticed is the audience definitely had favorites because some people left before Judas Priest came on. Personally I would have stuck it out for a couple of songs, but that’s me. Wasting no time, they came out and kicked everybody’s ass with a set of songs that touch on key parts of their discography from British Steel to their latest Invincible Sword. The crowd loved it! While there was no mosh pit or crowd surfing, people were having a great time!!!

I never figured I would see Alice Cooper live before he calls it quits. Listened to him a lot in the 1970’s with songs like “School’s Out”, “No More Mister Nice Guy” and “I’m Eighteen”. Since that time my taste in music has changed from rock to thrash and death metal, but occasionally it doesn’t hurt to turn the clock back and listen to stuff from your high school days. This is what it was like to see Alice Cooper, a throwback to the days of our youth. It was a good time and Alice played the songs that people wanted to hear most.
