The Evolution Tour showcased the level of musicianship and maturity that Disturbed has reached at this point in their career. The band’s high-energy presentation mixed with calmer, heartfelt moments gave an emotion-filled performance that would echo in Greenville long beyond this evening. Even before the band hit the stage the cheers from the audience were deafening, as images on the gigantic LED monitors flashed footage of the band’s history while statements such as “When Music is the Weapon, The Sickness Is The Cure” and “When Music Is The Weapon, We Must Evolve” rallied the crowd. Blasting into fan favorite “Are You Ready?” ensured the house was on their feet, and the band didn’t release their grip on the crowd until encore song “Down With The Sickness” was complete.
Frontman David Draiman, bassist John Moyer, guitarist Dan Donegan, and drummer Mike Wengren thrilled those in attendance at The Well with a set that included not only fan favorites and incredible solos, but also heartfelt messages and a spectacular visual production.
The poignant “Hold On To Memories” and evocative cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s classic “The Sound Of Silence” were just two examples of the band’s ability to demonstrate a raw and sincere connection with the crowd while honoring the unexpected and tragic losses within the music community.
Disturbed continues to be out supporting their seventh studio album, Evolution, while they prove that through their raw energy and ability to use music as a way to unify and overcome, they will continue to have a marching mass along side them armed with fists in the air.
