Miami, Fl – On the evening of May 3, 2025, the vibrant atmosphere at Magic City Casino in Miami, Florida, is palpable as fans gather to celebrate the 50th Anniversary Tour of the legendary soft rock duo Air Supply. The audience, a diverse mix of longtime devotees and newer admirers, buzzes with anticipation, sharing stories of the band’s timeless hits and the personal memories they evoke. The audience is peppered with long time fan club members, know as Airheads.
As the lights dim, a pre-show video montage begins, chronicling Air Supply’s illustrious journey from their humble beginnings to international stardom. The visual narrative sets the stage for an evening steeped in nostalgia and musical excellence.
Taking the stage, Russell Hitchcock(Vocals) and Graham Russell(Guitar / Vocals) are met with a standing ovation. Their synergy is evident as they deliver a setlist that spans their extensive catalog, each song resonating deeply with the audience. The band’s current touring members enhance the performance with their exceptional musicianship: Aaron McLain(Lead Guitar / Musical Director), Mirko Tessandori(Keyboards), Doug Gild(Bass) and Pavel Valdman(Drums). Accompanying the band in the string section are Cassie Olso(Cello) and Hannah Brown(Cello). Each member contributes to the rich, full sound that defines Air Supply’s live performances, ensuring that the music remains as impactful as ever.
About mid-way through the set, as is tradition at an Air Supply show, Graham will take the opportunity to recite poetry and in this case, perform a song. Prior to getting his 5 minutes to shine, Graham and Russell recount the beginnings of Air Supply. The story of Air Supply begins on May 12, 1975, when Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock met during rehearsals for the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney. Discovering a shared passion for music and harmony, they begin performing together in local venues, gradually building a following with their heartfelt songs and distinctive sound. Their dedication and talent leads to the release of their debut single, “Love and Other Bruises,” marking the start of a remarkable musical journey.
The set list for the evening is just an ongoing barrage of hit after hit after hit. As the evening concludes, the audience departs with hearts full of cherished memories and melodies that have stood the test of time, a testament to Air Supply’s remarkable 50-year journey in music.
