Photo Galleries: Pierce the Veil and The Used – Kings for a Day at Virginia Raceway

Richmond, VA — Pierce the Veil and The Used just wrapped up their epic co-headlining Creative Control Tour that spanned stops across the U.S. and Canada from May to July 2023. I caught up with them at Virginia Credit Union Live! located at Virginia Raceway in Richmond, VA on June 6th. This was the first time the two bands have toured together. Supporting artists for the Virginia show included Don Broco and DeathbyRomy.

Co-headliner Pierce the Veil made a grand entrance, blasting confetti after a dramatic curtain drop. The band recently released their album Jaws of Life in February via Fearless Records, and they eagerly shared it with their devoted fans. A standout moment occurred during the concert when lead singer Vic Fuentes invited a young girl onstage, where she sang along to “Hold on Till May” with him. As she departed, he surprised her by gifting his stunning guitar, leaving the entire audience captivated.

Co-headliner The Used took to the stage covered in roses, including the mic stands, while a prominent skull backdrop echoed the visuals of their latest album, Toxic Positivity. This American rock band known for their emotive and energetic style. Formed in Orem, Utah, in 2001, The Used has gained a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim for their unique blend of alternative rock, post-hardcore, and emo elements. Enthusiastic fans rocked the entire set with plenty of passion and energy.

One of the opening bands, British Pop/Alt Rock Don Broco hails from Bedford, England. The band’s energy was hard to surpass by any other performer of the night with lead singer lead singer, Rob Damiani, covering every inch of the stage. They have released four albums with their 2021 Amazing Things reaching No. 1 on the UK Charts.

Opening act DeathbyRomy announced that this was their first tour, and fans were thrilled with their energy. With three albums and an EP under her belt, lead singer Romy Flores seemed quite comfortable on stage with a rare style merging pop, trap, industrial and cinematic.
