Baltimore, MD – A Light Divided and Ashland rolled into Zen West to play the last show of their short tour with local support being provided by Baltimore’s Cyber Strike and Luridinn, and Washington, D.C.’s A Sound of Thunder.
Promptly at 6 PM, Cyber Strike started the show and set the pace for the evening with songs that show their proficiency in speed and thrash metal. They have been a band since 2009 and despite me attending a number of shows in the Baltimore area, this is the first time that I have seen them live. I liked what I heard and if you get a chance, check them out.

Like Cyber Strike, Luridinn is a Baltimore area band that until the tour announcement I had never heard of or seen live. Playing after a speed/thrash metal band might not have been a good idea, because I found Luridinn understated compared to Cyber Strike. Now this could be by design, I’m not sure. I did some searching and found Episode 91 of the “Part-Time Rockstar Podcast” where the studio cut of ‘Lampkin Lane’ was played and it sounds far heavier than what I heard when they played it live. Some of their fans were in the audience and enjoyed what they heard.

The last time A Sound of Thunder live was when they opened for Pagan Rebellion II at Baltimore Soundstage on September 1, 2019, so I was looking forward to seeing my friends throw down again. I have been a fan of the band since I saw them live for the first time in 2012 when they supported Warbringer at Kingdom, a Richmond, Virginia venue long gone. Being their first show of 2023 they brought the heavy with a set of mostly songs from older albums which pleased the fans immensely. There was some moshing where a few members of the band’s “Legion Of Thunder” decided to mix things up. They looked and sounded great and if you haven’t sen them, what are you waiting for?

A Light Divided has this ability to select bands to tour with that complement them and Ashland is one of those bands. A three piece rock band from the Midwest that have been together for 10 years. I couldn’t find a setlist but they played a few songs and at one point they were punked by members of A Light Divided. Check them out when you get a chance, I think you will like them.
I have been following A Light Divided since I saw them live at Somewhere Else Tavern in 2012, a venue long gone and missed. Despite some lineup changes over the years they consistently bring the energy to their shows. Touring in support of their new single ‘Inhale/Exhale’ they brought the house down with a set that shattered Zen West. If you get the opportunity to see them live, do it. You will not be disappointed.
