Indianapolis, IN. – Fans came out to Ruoff Music Center last night to see The Chicks (formally known as the Dixie Chicks) with special guest Patty Griffin – unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be the night they were expecting.
After hitting the stage full throttle with fan favorite “Sin Wagon“, lead vocalist Natalie Maines took no time explaining to the crowd she wasn’t feeling well due to terrible allergies (even commenting she had taken a (steroid) shot trying to get it under control to be able to perform). She promised to give it her best shot and apologized to the crowd up front it may get dodgy. The band continued on with the title track off their new album, “Gaslighter” and rolled right into “Texas Man”. The Chicks were only able to get two more songs in “Julianna Calm Down” and “The Long Way Around” before Natalie made the hard call that no performer wants to make and admitted to the crowd she could no longer perform. Her voice was shot. She apologized and ended the show…
