Yukimi, co-founder of Little Dragon, recently shared her new single and music video, “Stream of Consciousness” featuring British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas. This is the latest offering from her debut album, For You which will be released on March 28th.
The collaboration marks Yukimi’s first time writing and creating music with another woman. The song’s lyrics make space for those moments where personal reflection allows for self-doubt, taking us on an intimate journey that they ultimately hope results in “making [their mothers] proud.”
Speaking about “Stream of Consciousness,” Yukimi shares:
“Lianne came in like a force of nature. We really boosted and inspired each other, which was such a beautiful thing.”
Stepping away from Little Dragon, For You allowed Yukimi to combine musical styles ranging from jazz, soul and electronic pop to hip hop, roots and psychedelia. The themes of span love, loss, feminine energy and innate resilience.

For You will include previously released singles “Sad Makeup,” which, according to Yukimi, was written
“about those days when you try to push down and control a sad feeling”
“Winter Is Not Dead,” was inspired by those long, dark winters in Scandinavia. The debut single, “Break Me Down” was in collaboration with Lianne La Havas and Little Dragon bandmate Erik Bodin.
Speaking about For You, Yukimi shares:
“I want this music to really be a force to connect people to each other, and step away from the madness of everything on the planet right now. And I’m excited about embarking on that journey on my own – the expression really feels pure.”
