Indianapolis, IN. – Local radio station WTTS once again brought a killer line-up for their annual Rock on the River concert at TCU Amphitheatre at White River State Park with proceeds going to local charity Indiana Wish. Returning to the WTTS Rock on the River stage was The Revivalists and they brought along Band of Horses and Maggie Koerner to get the party started. As fans made their way into the amphitheatre, they were greeted with an opportunity to get a guitar signed by all members of The Revivalists that was being auctioned to raise money for Indiana Wish whom grants wishes for Indiana children between the ages of 3-18 that have been diagnosed with life-threatening or terminal illnesses. Kicking off the evening’s event was Indie rocker Maggie Koerner. Hailing from Shreveport, LA, Maggie and band brought the good vibes and drew the crowd in to find out what she was all about (I overheard a fan describe her as a “female version of Pearl Jam”). She did a quick 30 minute set that included lead vocalist David Shaw of The Revivalists joining the band on stage for her single “Be Somebody (Who Loves)” from Maggie’s studio album The Bartholomew Songs out not via Mirrorball Records.

Next up on the line-up was Indie/Southern rock powerhouse Band of Horses featuring long-time members Ben Bridwell (lead vocals, guitar, steel lap guitar, keyboards), Ryan Monroe (guitar, keys, backing vocals), Creighton Barrett (drums) joined by newest members Matt Gentling (bass, backing vocals) and Brett Nash (guitar, backing vocals). Hailing from Charleston, SC. (via Seattle, WA.), Band of Horses has been around since 2004 and were a big draw for the nights line-up. People watching during the show proved there were just as many fans there to see B.O.H. as there were the headliner. Currently out in support of their sixth studio album Things Are Great (out now via Huger Lewis and the Dudes Inc. Label), the “3rd best band in the Carolinas” will continue on the road with The Revivalists through September; selling out venues coast to coast. If you’ve been considering grabbing a ticket, don’t wait too long or you may miss your chance as this is a hot ticket!

It was now time for the headliner, The Revivalists featuring members David Shaw (lead vocal, guitar), Zach Feinberg (guitar), Andrew Campanelli (drums, percussion), George Gekas (bass), Ed Williams (pedal steel guitar, guitar), Rob Ingraham (saxophone), Michael Girardot (keys, trumpet) and PJ Howard (drums, percussion).
Their high-energy set kicked off with their radio hit “All My Friends” which is exactly how this band makes their fans feel; like you’re part of The Revivalists family. Always getting up close and personal with “their friends” by means of a walkway out into the crowd, frontman David Shaw works the stage like no other. The band continued to share their good vibes and uplifting brand of roots rock, playing hit after hit while still showcasing their newest album Pour It Out Into the Night (out now via Concord Records). The packed house couldn’t get enough and were often heard singing all the words to the songs, sometimes drowning out the frontman as he lead the crowd in the sing-along.
