Chesapeake, VA – Nashville’s indie-rock duo Volk returned to rock Riffhouse with local support from folk artist F. A. Hardy and Norfolk, Virginia rockers Spirit Gun.
Starting off the night was F. A. Hardy, an American folk artist from Hampton Roads. I have never heard of him until this show. While he was playing, I didn’t realize that he was playing a drum as well as a guitar in the style of Morgan O’Kane and Phillip Roebuck which is something I haven’t heard in years. If you get a chance, check him out for something different.

Changing the pace and energy, Spirit Gun played a set of good, old fashioned rock & roll. This is my second time seeing them play live and they are a fun group of guys to hang out with. We talked about music, the upcoming Something In The Water festival and guitars. If you haven’t seen Spirit Gun live, what are you waiting for!!!???

This is my second time seeing Volk, the last time was when they supported the Supersuckers on tour. They are a lot of fun live and I’m not turned off by the idea that their music is country influenced along with rock and metal. I grew up listening to country music and find it a nice change of pace. Their set included a new song, “Stand The Test” which will be released on April 13th. If you haven’t experienced Volk live, you should!!!
