Nashville, IN. – It was well worth the wait! After a couple rescheduled dates (September 2023 and March 2024) due to mental health issues, BETH HART finally treated the BROWN COUNTY MUSIC CENTER to a night of music they’ll be talking about for a while. Talk about a come back – Powerful, Strong, Energetic, Charismatic, Magnetic – are just a few of the words I would use to describe this performance.

In times like these, it’s important to remember that seeking help is a sign of strength. If you or someone you know is struggling, we encourage you to reach out to a professional for support.

Kicking the night off was hometown Bluesman Doug Henthorn. A beloved Indiana player that is making his mark on the music scene. Founder and frontman of the rock band Healing Sixes, Doug has collaborated with such music greats as Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham, John Hiatt (another beloved Hoosier), Beth Hart, and Tony Levin just to name a few.

With just an acoustic guitar in hand, Doug got the audience’s attention and kept them in the room while telling stories and doing what Doug knows best; playing music. I’m always amazed with a player that can walk onto a stage alone and share themselves with an audience. It’s not an easy thing to do but Doug makes it look like it’s just another walk in the park…which is exactly what you want from a support act. If you’re not familiar with Doug’s work, make sure to give him a listen and discover what us Hoosier’s have known for some time – He’s the real deal!

After a quick break, it was finally time for Beth Hart. This crowd had waited for this night for over 10 months and you could feel the anticipation in the air. Beth surprised the crowd by starting the show at the back of the house; walking through the crowd and stopping for first bumps, hugs, and accolades from her adorning fans, all while singing “Tell Her You Belong To Me“. It was powerful. After knowing Beth had been struggling lately with her mental health, it was amazing to see her give so much of herself to her fans. You could really feel the love in the room and I believe that is what made this particular performance so special. Beth Hart was back and we were lucky for it!

Joining Beth on stage were her longtime band Jon Nichols on guitar, Bill Ransom on drums, and Tom Lilly on bass. It should also be mentioned that Beth was joined by her stage manager and personal body guard Scott Guetzkow whom also just happens to be Beth’s husband and partner in crime. The band was solid and tight, laying down a powerful groove for Beth to soar her commanding vocal over. The set was a nicely-paced mix of both familiar tunes, one new song and included a few covers by Melody Gardot, Patti Labelle, and Tom Waits (just to name a few) that the crowd seemed to really enjoy.

Beth is a presence on stage that you can’t take you eyes off of. Engaging the audience in every corner – alternately prowling, prancing, emoting and at times sitting down on the edge of the stage – mere feet from the crowd. A close and intimate experience, often chatting up the crowd with personal stories and struggles, Beth Hart delivered what every fan has come to learn to expect from her: A night and performance they will never forget!
