Mt. Clemens, MI — Celebrating with big hair and cans of hairspray, well not as much as what was used in the actual 80’s era, its the ninth annual 80’s charity event also known as “80’s Party For a Purpose”. The event is to raise some money for some worthy charities. This year the charities are Great Lakes Burn Camp (for Kids- 6-17 years of age), Families of Service Men & Women (Blue Star Mothers Chapter #180) and Friends of Jacob (Supporting families of children with Autism).

Since 2011 80’s Party For A Purpose has raised over $100,000 on assorted events and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, according to their website. The organization is founded by Dean Johnson and the organization board members include Kelley Metter, Kristie Swailes, John O’Brien, Tammy Churches, Paul Pirrone, and Cyndie Reiterman.

From where the original location of 80’s Party For A Purpose started, the location has changed throughout the years. Each year the event has grown larger than the year before. However, this is the second year in a row, that the 1620 capacity Emerald Theater in Mt. Clemons, Michigan hosted the event. The charity event will be hosted on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at www.80sparty4apurpose.org.
