Madison, WI – Just when you thought it was not possible for the “Most Metal Band on Earth”, Lords of the Trident, to get any more metal, they up the metal content in their soon to be released 5th full length album, The Offering. The digital album was released to their Patreon followers in late January with an announcement that caught some of their loyal fans off guard. The release of the physical album will be on April 1st.
What makes this album very special (and a little more metal) is the fact this is their first concept album, which the band will tell you was somewhat of a risk. Having heard a few of the songs in 2021 at Mad With Power IV in Madison, WI, I knew it was a risk would pay off.
The album weaves a tale of young man, sold to serve a master and trained to be a guardian. As fate would have it, despite all his training, the city betrays him.
There was no shortage of backing power as the album was mixed by Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (engineer for Avantasia, Unleash the Archers, Volbeat, Amaranthe, and more) who brought out the powerful Fang VonWrathenstein’s vocals as well as stunning and complicated guitar riffs by Baron Taurean Helleshaar and Asian Metal. Adding to the mix is powerful bass provided by Pontifex Mortis and drums courtesy of the Master Hercule “Herc” Schlagzeuger which, when in the right proportions, is a formula for metal beyond what science once deemed possible. To send the metal rating soaring past 11, Unleash the Archers guitarist Grant Truesdell provided some guest vocals on a few tracks including the first single (and video) from the album, “Power of Evil”. The band has released 4 other singles since the announcement, check out the links highlighted below.
