Canadian Rock singer JJ Wilde has teamed up with rock singer-songwriter Billy Raffoul for their latest EP, Born To Die which was released November 19th. With Wilde’s raw but charming voice and Raffoul’s raspy vocals, the collaboration is a true rock and roll match made in heaven. Their voices seem to blend naturally and effortlessly.
Although the EP only consists of three songs, each song highlights a different side of love. The opening track “Born To Die” is an anthemic rock song with the declaration of endless love between two lovers. The next song is “Colours“, a much more toned-down song, about opening back up for love after a heartbreak. The song has a warm, cozy, autumn feel to it. Bridging the other two songs is the last song “Let Me Go“, which tells the story of experiencing a difficult heartbreak. The pain and heartache of the lyrics are lucidly conveyed. On December 3th, they also released an acoustic version of “Born To Die” on YouTube.
Before releasing Born To Die, JJ Wilde has also released her second album Wilde on May 14th this year. With her debut album Ruthless, which was released in 2020, she took home the 2021 JUNO Award for “Rock Album Of The Year”.
Following his father’s footsteps, Billy Raffoul has been writing songs since the age of ten, leading to winning the 2021 SOCAN Songwriting Prize for his single “Western Skies”. Raffoul has captivated live audiences opening for acts like Kings Of Leon, X Ambassadors and more.
