Less Than Jake Makes a Stop at the Culture Room on Way to 311 Cruise

Ft Lauderdale, Fl – The iconic Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl hosts Less Than Jake’s warm up show on March 7, 2023, as they prepare for not a 3 hour cruise, but a 311 Caribbean Cruise scheduled to depart on March 8, 2023.

Bargain Bin Heroes have the distinct honor of opening the show for Less Than Jake. Bargain Bin Heroes are a five-piece Ska band hailing from Southwest Florida. The band has been in existence since 2014 and have three EP’s to their credit. Band members include Eric (Bass / Vocals), Rob (Guitar / Backing Vocals ), Aaron ( Trombone / Backing Vocals ), Amanda ( Saxophone ) and Jimmy James ( Drums ). They wasted no time in warming up the crowd, already decent in size, for the opening act of the evening. Being a Florida band, many of their loyal fans are in attendance early to catch their very energetic set.

Billy Doom Is Dead is a four-piece punk rock band from West Palm Beach, Florida. The band combines punk rock with the more melodic sound of rock-n-roll. The fans receive the band well and by the looks of it, with a venue almost at capacity, are enjoying what Billy Doom is Dead is dishing out.

Less Than Jake is embarking on a European / UK tour just ahead of Summer starting in May of 2023. The Return of the Jakes  European  / UK tour will have 15 stops including a performance at Hellfest in France before the final stop in Dessel, Belgium. They tour is in support of 25 years of their Hello Rockview album, the band’s third, released in 1998.

The band, from Gainesville, Fl, are very comfortable on the Culture Room stage, having performed here countless times over the past 30 years. As the evening progresses, they provide anecdotes of their time spent in South Florida and specifically at the Culture Room. Less Than Jake band members are Chris DeMakes (Vocals, Guitars), Roger Lima (Vocals, Bass), Matt Yonker (Drums), Buddy “Goldfinger” Schaub (Trombone) and Peter “JR” Wasilewski (Saxophone).

The set list includes fan favorites such and “Gainesville Rock City” and “The Science of Selling Yourself Short“. They continue to tear through what seems like an endless set of 18 songs, wrapping up their encore with “The High Cost of Low Living“, “Dopeman“, and “All My Best Friends Are Metalheads“.

The band, admitting that hadn’t spent time rehearsing, hinted at new material that they are working on towards a new release in the upcoming year. The Culture Room turns out to be a great venue for Less Than Jake to shake the cobwebs off before the 311 Caribbean Cruise and from the looks of it, there was not much to dust off. Kudos to the band on a fantastic performance at one of Ft. Lauderdale’s legendary venues.
