Indianapolis, IN. – Blues-Rock titan Joe Bonamassa is currently in the midst of his highly anticipated Blues Deluxe Tour which honors his albums Blues Deluxe (2003) and Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 (2023); both debuting on the Billboard Blues Album chart at #1. The tour will embark on 18 cities across the U.S. and features fan favorites along with deep tracks from his expansive catalog that includes an impressive 45+ albums and 19 DVD’s in total – and Indianapolis was lucky to get a stop!

As I parked at Old National Center, I quickly saw the line to get into the venue circled around the parking lot. You could tell it was going to be a full house and a quick glance around found mainly an older crowd with a few “young ones” thrown into the mix whom were out to see the blues guitar sensation. Joe did not disappoint. Strolling onto the stage, sharped-dressed as always (paying homage to Blues cats of old who ALWAYS looked their best on stage), Joe immediately proceeded to do what he does best – crank up that guitar and play some blues. It should be noted that the show started a little late. Joe actually addressed this with the crowd; apologizing for the late start and stating he held the show to ensure everyone was able to get in and not miss a note! Thanks Joe!!

Welding an impressive array of vintage axes (because you know Joe is a certifiable guitar-gear nerd and can often be seen on YouTube showing off his latest vintage finds); Joe’s guitar tone is unmistakable. There’s no doubt the line of amps on stage behind the plexiglass were cranked up and sizzling. Supported by a smokin’ hot band that turned on a dime with every nuance coming from Joe’s guitar as well as some stunning back-up vocals, Joe was joined on stage by the legendary Reese Wynans (who played with Stevie Ray Vaughan) on keyboard, Josh Smith on guitar, Lamar Carter on drums, Calvin Turner on bass, Jimmy Bowland on saxophone, Mark Douthit on saxophone, Tyler Jaeger on Trumpet and the lovely ladies Jade MacRae, Ms. Monet, and Danni D’Andrea on back-up vocals. All of these musicians have solo careers in their own right (not just support for Joe) and I highly recommend checking out their music as well!

With over 4 million albums sold and 3 Grammy nods, it’s easy to see (and hear) why Joe Bonamassa is considered one of the best Blues-Rock guitar players around. The Blues Deluxe Tour continues through the end of August with a small break in September/October before Joe and band kick off their U.S. Fall 2024 Tour in Nevada on October 26 and staying out till the end of November. Make sure to check local listings or Joe’s website for a show near you! You won’t want to miss it!
