The Title Track For Her Upcoming LP To Be Released in August

India Ramey, "Baptized by the Blaze"

From Press Release –

Nashville-based outlaw, India Ramey, announced her forthcoming LP, Baptized By The Blaze, out on August 23rd, with the release of its title track. “Baptized By The Blaze

Written entirely by Ramey, “Baptized By The Blaze” presents the sharpest version yet of Ramey’s unique sound. It’s a cinematic mix of spaghetti western landscapes, Americana-noire arrangements, and classic country influences, all glued together by a frontwoman who proudly wears her honky-tonk roots. Joining her are a murderer’s row of all-star instrumentalists — including Tommy Hardin, Alyson Prestwood, Scotty Sanders, and James Mitchell.

Over a backdrop of trainbeats and haunting guitar, Ramey proclaims,

Yesterday I set myself on fire. With my own hands I built that funeral pyre. I built it so high the flames touched the sky and now I am alive because I died.

Baptized By The Blaze” was inspired by Ramey’s decision to wean off a powerful anxiety drug on which she had become dependent, taken for years to manage a panic disorder that stemmed from childhood trauma and abuse. It was a painful process that involved excruciating withdrawals and confronting that childhood trauma, but necessary to begin her healing journey, step into her personal power, and become a better version of herself.

“It is about phoenix energy,” Ramey explains. “It’s about the death of the old me who was a slave to my trauma and the birth of the new me who is living a full and happy life without fear.”

One of the most powerful songs on the album, “The Mountain,” continues Ramey’s conversation about trauma recovery and the eternal stability that remains long after life’s avalanches have subsided.

Recently, Ramey released a single from the album called “Ain’t My First Rodeo,” along with a tongue-in-cheek classic horror-inspired video.

“I wrote the song about narcissistic energy vampires,” she explains. “I knew I was going to do something with a mechanical bull, but I am way too nerdy to pull off Sissy from Urban Cowboy, so I decided to tap into my love for B-Horror movies and go with the vampire/zombie metaphor. We threw a monster’s ball in a honky-tonk,” Ramey adds. “It’s a perfect blend of the things I dig.”

Baptized By The Blaze is an album that pays homage to the outlaws and honky-tonk angels who came before her and is unmistakably the work of India Ramey. She’s always written about pain and trauma, but here, she exorcises those inner demons without apology, turning her personal story into a universal message of liberation and self-empowerment.
