Human Infection at Riffhouse Pub

Chesapeake, VA – Roanoke’s Human Infection returned to play Riffhouse Pub for the first time in years with support from Raleigh, North Carolina’s deathgrind band Pathogenesis, Baltimore’s powerviolence threesome Uncle Buck and Waynesboro, Pennsylvania’s grind masters Organ Trail.

When Matt Dorsey, Organ Trail’s lead singer, puts on a show it is always a banger with some unique bands. With a mix of death metal, grind and powerviolence, what’s not to like!! I have heard of Pathogenesis, but until this show I have never seen them live. This is a group of guys with a sense of humor based on some of their song titles such as “Crowdfund My Drug Habit”. The set was way too short, what I heard I liked and hope I can catch them again.

Until the flyer came out for this show I had never heard of Uncle Buck, despite them being a band since 2015. I haven’t seen any powerviolence band play live in years so I was looking forward to seeing Uncle Buck and I wasn’t disappointed. All the energy and speed you could want and more. If you get a chance to catch these guys throw down, go for it.

I have know Matt Dorsey for years and have attended and covered a lot of his shows in the various bands he has been in. Always a pleasure to see them live and for many of us it has been too long since they last graced Riffhouse’s stage. The faithful was there to witness the band in all its glory and we got a bonus when Alex Wilson (Snogard, Slug Salter, Crypt Walk) who filled in for Matt when he got COVID in December did a number at the show. If you like grind, you need to see Organ Trail!!!!

Closing out the night was Human Injection, Roanoke’s death metal purveyors who haven’t played Riffhouse in years. In a set of mostly older material, they jogged the memories of Hampton Roads fans what they have missed. It was great to see them blow it up again!!!
