Leftover Crack comes to decimate Virginia Beach on Black Friday during their Winter Tour with local support from The Contactees and Mr. Fang and the Dark Tones.
I had heard of The Contactees before from other shows that had played, but this is the first time seeing them live. The set starts with a guy wearing a grocery bag with an angry face taped on it which kind of reminded me of the Unknown Comic, but talking more smack. The band starts to play and at one point an audience member tells the bass player that he can play better and the next thing is the guy is on stage and I thought some blows were going to be exchanged. Turns out the guy from the audience was one of the guitar players, and at that point the band plays as a four piece. The reactions from the audience varied from slight shock to giggling. If nothing else, it was different. I didn’t see a setlist and found their Bandcamp page which I found an EP called “Project:Bagman” from 2022 and a song called “U.F.W.” which was released January 12th of this year. The music sounded good and these guys definitely had some attitude.
Facebook|InstagramIt has been over a year since I last saw Mr. Fang and the Dark Tones, that show was a Black Mass which was entertaining. They describe themselves as “Horror rock from beyond the grave” and I found them to be the perfect complement to this lineup, especially for those who are not hardcore punk rockers. The guys sounded exceptional and of course were in full costume. There was some movement from a couple of people in the crowd who felt the need to dance.

The majority of the audience saved their energy for Leftover Crack, because once they started playing the mosh pit started and fans rushed the stage to sing along and share the mike which both Stza and Tibbie X were willing to give them the opportunity. After the third song, Stza said they were going to play a cover song which was met with groans from the crowd, until he said it was a Choking Victim cover and the crowd was cool with that. While I listen to punk from time to time, Leftover Crack was not on my radar until recently. Everybody had a good time at this show and the band was tight AF!!!! I haven’t been to a punk show in a long time and I’m glad I took the time to see this one!!!
