Indianapolis, IN. – There is not a lot I can say about The Wood Brothers that hasn’t already been said. They are probably one of my most favorite bands to cover and see perform live. This performance makes my 5th time, (including their first time to headline at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre) and I would buy a ticket tomorrow for another one of their shows! In my opinion, they are extremely under recognized, as they are truly magical and full of charisma on stage. If you’ve seen a Wood Brothers show, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you’ve not seen a show, do yourself a favor and buy the ticket; What are you waiting for? I promise they will not disappoint and you will leave the venue happy!

Brothers Oliver Wood (vocals, guitar) and Chris Wood (vocals, bass, harmonica), along with Jano Rix (multi-instrumentalist/drummer) make up The Wood Brothers. They currently kicked off their spring/summer tour behind their 8th Studio album, Heart is the Hero – recorded at The Studio Nashville out of Nashville, TN with head engineer Brook Sutton and mastered by Trina Shoemaker (protégé of famous producer Daniel Lanois).

Recorded analog to 16-track tape, this latest effort finds its three creators embracing the chemistry of their acclaimed live shows by capturing their performances in real-time direct from the studio floor with nary a computer in sight. An acoustic-driven album that electrifies, Heart is the Hero is stocked with songs that target not only the heart, but the head and hips, too.

There is still plenty of opportunities to catch this fabulous trio between now and the end of the tour. Make sure to check The Wood Brothers website for a show near you.

Kicking the night off in Indianapolis was newcomer Jobi Riccio. Jobi hails from Morrison, Colorado (home of Red Rocks Amphitheatre) where she grew up surrounded by music. Jobi found her inspiration in artists ranging from Sheryl Crow to Joni Mitchell. I really could hear the Joni influence in her music. It should also be noted that Jobi was awarded the Newport Folk Festival John Prine Fellowship in 2023. Jobi is currently out showcasing her debut album, Whiplash (out now via Yep Roc Records) and only has a few more dates opening for The Wood Brothers. Make sure to keep an eye out for Jobi! I suspect we will be hearing more about Jobi Riccio in the near future.
