From Press Release –
Dianne van Giersbergen just announced the release of the eighth single from her upcoming album, Soulward Bound, “Hysteria”. The single blends classic symphonic, operatic metal, similar to early Nightwish, but includes modern production, staccato choirs, intricate orchestrations, a lightning-fast chorus and headbanging drive from start to finish
“Hysteria” is about the struggle between ambition and madness, the unseen weight of chasing a dream and the reality behind the relentless pursuit. There is no surrender as it pays homage to the balancing act dreamers, career chasers, parents and protagonists navigate every single day!
“Oh to run with the wind, truly untamed, tearing my world asunder”
The chorus of “Hysteria” brings to light Dianne’s classical soprano training as she weaves rapid coloratura-style vocal lines with sharp high staccato and a smooth slide up to a high D.
“Save me for I’m falling into wild hysteria!”

SOULWARD BOUND – THE ALBUM
On September 13, 2022, exactly five years after her departure from Xandria, Dianne van Giersbergen announced her return to symphonic metal with the creation of her solo album Soulward Bound.
The album, released under her own name, DIANNE, reflects her personal journey. The title Soulward Bound embodies the drive and devotion that guided DIANNE in rediscovering herself.
To mirror this journey, the album is being released using a waterfall strategy, spread over five years, with two singles each year. “Hysteria” is the eighth single. All songs on the album are co-written and produced by Joost van den Broek and feature various guest musicians from the genre.
