Henrico County, VA – This is another first for Digital Beat Magazine!! Check out the images of DBM’s first dive into a Renaissance Faire. What was special about this one is not only was it DBM’s first, it was the inaugural Richmond Renaissance Faire organized by a local organization called Virago Alley.
What was amazing was how soon the event sold out. Granted, at the time, I did not understand what that really meant (I did not know the number of tickets to be sold). On event day, it did not take too long to realize it! The traffic to get into the event was backed way up, but the Henrico police kept in moving oh so well. The line to get in was HUGE, but it was smooth (and it was a blast interacting with people going in).
Inside the event there was so much to see and do. From jousting, craftspeople, merchants, fencing, sword play and performances of all kinds. There were time-era costumes, time-inappropriate costumes, and just made up costumes. It was indeed a renaissance that spanned the ages. But enough of the small talk, let the pictures tell the story!

One very appealing aspect of this type of event is the welcoming nature of all. To be who you wanted to be and no one questioned. Heck, I was even able to dress as a photographer and all accepted me with open arms!! This is a MUST experience for anyone who wants to be around people enjoying life!!
