Ana Popovic Packs a Powerful Blues Punch at the Tin Pan

Richmond, VA – It had been a while since I got to see Ana Popovic on the Tin Pan stage, or any other stage for that matter. Looking back, I did not think she could step up her stage game. I was wrong. On January 12, 2026, at the Tin Pan in Richmond, VA, Ana blew away the near sold out Tin Pan crowd with some funky rock blues and some face melting Fender Telecaster riffs.

Ana opened the night to the well fed and nearly sold out Tin Pan audience with “Rise Up!“, let the jammin’ begin!! A bluesy “Power Over Me” was next followed by the third song from her 2023 album, Power, “Queen of the Pack

Strong Taste

Changing things up a bit, from power to desire, the next kick as piece was “Strong Taste“, which had the audience doing a country blues jam, body shaking, sitting at the dinner table funky head bobbing dance. It was quite a sight.

Now if you have never been to the Tin Pan, it is a very unique music venue. Patrons show up early, sit down, order a great dinner and drinks to put them in the mood for great music. Ana is a Tin Pan favorite, as she makes an appearance at least once a year, nearly selling it out each time.

As the night went on, we were introduced to several tracks from Ana’s most recent album, Dance to the Rhythm. The heat turned up with a little “Sho Nuf“. “Soulution“, “Worked Up“, and a great cover of “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover“!

Are you “Worked Up“?

As the set wound down, Ana’s music had the Tin Pan wound up. She eased into finale, playing classics such as “Brand New Man“, “I Like It On Top“, and a “Lasting Kind of Love“, finishing the set with the title track of her newest album, “Dance to the Rhythm“.

After a brief standing O, Ana and the band returned to the stage, finishing off the night with “Turn My Luck” and the last song on her new album titled, “Sisters and Brothers“. In her words (and I do not think too many will disagree), the ‘world is nuts’ but music can bring us together. In my years doing this, I have seen how true that sentiment is.

I think what makes the Tin Pan a great venue for Ana is the intimacy. Her engagement with the fans does not end with the final note, it ends when the last fan leaves her table. She engages and talks with the fans as they leave for the night.

Dave Pearson
Dave Pearson is based out of Richmond, VA by way of Hayward, WI. He has long had a passion for music. Growing up in rural Wisconsin, he rocked out to the likes of Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, and The Lettermen. Then, one Saturday night, being the rebel he was born to be, he caught an Alice Cooper interview (it may have been on The Midnight Special) and saw him perform, “Welcome to My Nightmare”. Dave was hooked on Rock and Roll (and many other genres as well). Dave has enjoyed (amateur) photography to some degree most of his adult life. Recently Dave started to apply his event photography skills in various music settings with success. He finds that photographing a performance gives him a much greater appreciation for the artist.
