Noblesville, IN. – It was another SOLD OUT show at Ruoff Music Center with another beautiful summer night in Indiana. It doesn’t get any better! The Red Hot Chili Peppers were in town and they brought along Japanese punk rockers Otoboke Beaver to jump start the evening’s festivities.

According to their website, Otoboke Beaver is an all girl Japanese punk-rock-garage band from Kyoto, Japan that Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters was quoted as saying, “…It’ll blow your mind, dude. It’s the most f*cking intense sh*t you’ve ever seen!” And Dave’s not wrong. Upon first listen, I described the girls as “Yoko Ono fronts the Dead Kennedys” but seeing it live was on a whole other level. Featuring Accorinrin (lead vocals), Yoyoyoshie (guitar, backing vocals), Hirochan (bass, backing vocals) and Kahokiss (drums, backing vocals), these four girls pack a lot of punch! They’ve acquired quite the following since breaking out in 2016 and can be found on the Damnably Records label. Make sure to check out their most current release, Super Champon.

It was time for the headliner and the crowd was ready! I ran into so many friends at the show – from high school days to new acquaintances, EVERYONE was there to see the Peppers! And as always, the band did not disappoint. Opening the show with a brief jam session featuring members Flea (bass, backing vocals), Chad Smith (drums, percussion) and John Frusciante (guitar, backing vocals, keyboard), the RHCP wasted no time getting into the hits once Anthony Kiedis (lead vocals) joined his mates onstage. With thirteen studio albums under their belt, the RHCP did a terrific job in showcasing their portfolio that spans over 42 years.

There are only two nights left of the tour (July 27th & July 30th), so if you missed seeing them this go-around, you missed it! But have no fear, this will not be the last of the Peppers. Rumor has it that they are taking the rest of 2024 and all of 2025 to get back to writing and bring us a new album (hopefully) sometime in late 2025 or 2026. We can’t wait to see what the RHCP have in store for us!
