Camden, NJ – With a line of thunderstorms on our tail, we quickly made it into the waterfront Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, NJ in hopes Jack Johnson would bring us a little of that Hawaiian sunlight with his lyrics and music, and he did.

The Summer Tour 2022 named “Meet The Moonlight” tour had its hiccups just recently with some re-scheduled shows due to the virus, but even without his original lineup onstage, these musicians were on point throughout the show.

Jack came out in his signature jeans and dark green t-shirt to introduce the opening band “Homemade Moments” from New Orleans to a crowd of ages ranging from 7 to 70. The audience was “chill” as my son would say, with a folksy kinda vibe in the air, everyone talking with everyone else, and an occasional whiff in the air.

Anna Moss and Joe Ludford who make up Handmade Moments are incredible.

Joe plays the tuba and guitar methodically, matching beautifully with Anna’s amazingly powerful voice. These two are a power couple, check out their YouTube videos to see what I mean.

Jack stepped out to thunderous applause and opened with “If I Had Eyes”, as the storms passed and the wind shot up off the river then swept through the open-air pavilion, and yes, there was even a full moon.

The band tore up a 20+ song setlist that included some covers from G. Love, Jimmy Buffet, Tom Petty, George Thorogood’s “Who Do You Love”, and Led Zeppelin as well as some new songs from “Meet The Moonlight” released this year.

Jack took turns on the drums with accompanying bongos to show how versatile a musician he is. He talked about what inspired him to write each song and its meaning for him and his family.

As he wrapped up the final set for the night he was joined on stage with the opening act Homemade Memories for a fantastic finish, but wait, of course there is an encore. Jack came back out and did an acoustic set finishing with “Better Together” to end a beautiful evening.
